چکیده

The surface reconstruction problem for three-dimensional (3D) scattered point data derived from 3D range scanners has been investigated in fields such as computer graphics (CG) and computer-aided design (CAD) [1, 2]. By using an implicit function-based method, the surface reconstruction problem can be solved. However, it must be noted here that, for generation of an implicit function in general domain, point normals on each of given points may be required. For example, the multi-level partition of unity implicits (MPU) method [2], which is a typical method for generating an implicit function, requires the point normals. However, there are some cases that point data do not contain normal data. In this case, surface reconstruction from 3D scattered point data is not easy. Hence, development of an estimation method of point normals from complicated point data is desired. The purpose of the present study is to propose an estimation method of point normals from a positional relationship of given point data.

Investigation of MODIS mission capability in tropospheric delay estimation for precise point positioning

Tropospheric delay is always considered as one of the factors limiting the accuracy of GPS. In this paper, the three-dimensional ray tracing technique is proposed to calculate the tropospheric delay. The ability of the MODIS mission to calculate the tropospheric delay is also examined. For this purpose, an area in central Europe was selected and a MODIS acquisition on 2008/08/01 was studied. In...

Transient Three-Dimensional Thermal Analysis of a Slab with internal heat generation and heated by a Point Moving Heat Source

In this work, analysis of transient three-dimensional heat transfer in a slab with internal heat generation and heated by a point moving heat source along its axis is carried out using integral transforms methods. The heat input into slab or workpiece by the moving heat source is considered in the model. From the results, it was established that the temperature of the material during the heat t...

Comparison of One-point and Two-point Methods for Estimation of Infiltration Parameters in Furrow Irrigation

Infiltration is one of the most important hydraulic parameters affecting surface irrigation and one ofthe most difficult parameters in practical field determinations. The infiltration equations are used todescribe water flow hydraulics and surface irrigation systems design. But determination of theparameters in these equations are costly and time consuming. Therefore, some estimating methods ar...

Spatial Relationship between Mandibular Third Molars and Inferior Alveolar Nerve using a Volume Rendering Software

Precise localization of the third molars in relation to the inferior alveolar nerve canal is critical from a clinical point of view and strongly affects the surgical treatment outcome. Recently, by using three-dimensional modeling software, the relationship of third molar root apices and inferior alveolar nerve canal can be better understood. In this study, the spatial relationship of two surgi...
